“In the United States, the competent authorities for recognizing previous education and qualifications include entities such as the following:

–State-Level Licensing Authorities (for those seeking professional licensure)
–Federal Immigration Authorities (for those seeking to obtain/change visa status)
In some instances, the entities mentioned above will evaluate foreign credentials themselves. However, in most instances, they will request that you obtain a credential evaluation to determine how one’s non-U.S. credentials compare with U.S. credentials. Such evaluations are carried out by private, non-governmental entities for a fee……
There is no federal regulation of credential evaluation services. The U.S. Department of Education does not endorse or recommend any individual credential evaluation service or any individual association of credential evaluation services.”

Most Americans are unaware that earning a degree overseas is an option worth considering. If you attend a campus based program overseas, you gain the additional experience of living in a foreign country.
Many overseas institutions are much more affordable than in the USA, which is another big drawing point, and many programs are English based even in countries in which English is not the main language.
Some students may wonder if their international degree will be acceptable in the US, and the answer is “Yes”. Foreign degrees are routinely accepted by the US Federal Government for employment, as well as by state and private employers. We use CUFCE.org to pass upon our degrees. Their reports are accepted by the U.S. State Department as well as the Office of Personnel Management (for Federal jobs).
Of course, for licensed professions such as medicine or law, other requirements must normally be met as well, to ensure that licensing can be obtained. If you are interested in a licensed profession, you should check with your licensing board as to whether foreign education is acceptable, and whether an online degree is acceptable. Many professions require that your degree be obtained from a traditional college or university.
