Why should a student majoring in computer science, pharmaceutical science, business, engineering, artificial intelligence, or health studies spend a large portion of an undergraduate program on required courses that may have little connection to the student’s professional direction? Blue Marble University decided to ask that question directly—and then redesign its bachelor’s pathway around a different answer.

Beginning with the May 1, 2026 start date, Blue Marble University began offering undergraduates the option to enter bachelor’s programs with no general education requirements. Instead of allocating that portion of the curriculum to conventional general-education subjects, the University is substituting study and practice involving artificial-intelligence applications and content creation, with additional attention to AI tools relevant to the student’s major.

An Accelerated 2-Year, 8-Month Bachelor’s Structure

Blue Marble University states that its bachelor’s programs are 100% online and can be completed in approximately two years and eight months. The no-general-education option is available across a broad range of majors. Current examples listed by the University include Artificial Intelligence, Alternative Medicine, Biochemistry, Biology–Stem Cell Science, Business, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering and Cybersecurity Technologies, Forensic Science, Health Studies/Public Health, Industrial Technology, Law, Medicine, Petroleum Engineering, and Pharmaceutical Science.

Students study online and can remain at home, continue employment, or combine education with family responsibilities. There is no campus relocation and no residence-hall expense. For adult learners and nontraditional students, those practical differences can matter as much as the academic structure itself.

A Bachelor’s Degree Priced at $2,950 Per Year

The published tuition is $2,950 USD per year with the payment plan, consisting of a $1,200 initial payment followed by seven monthly payments of $250. Blue Marble University charges annually rather than by credit and states that texts and learning resources are included. Some courses or programs may carry nominal laboratory fees.

The University’s larger affordability philosophy is easy to understand: a student should be able to pursue a bachelor’s degree without automatically beginning adult life with a large education loan. Low annual tuition, online delivery, and an accelerated schedule combine to reduce both direct cost and the opportunity cost of spending four or more years in a conventional undergraduate structure.

AI Instead of General Education

The replacement is deliberate. Blue Marble University is adapting the bachelor’s curricula so students gain exposure to AI applications rather than spending the same curricular space on the traditional general-education package. Depending on the major, that can include learning how AI tools assist with research, writing, content production, marketing, business operations, health-care administration, scientific inquiry, technical work, or other field-specific tasks.

AI competency is not a substitute for subject knowledge. A computer-science student still needs computer science. A chemistry student still needs chemistry. A business student still needs business. The point is that graduates increasingly enter workplaces where AI tools sit alongside the traditional tools of the profession. The University’s no-general-education model tries to integrate that reality into undergraduate study from the outset.

This distinction should be treated as a feature of informed choice, not hidden in fine print. Eliminating general education creates a curriculum that intentionally differs from the conventional U.S. regionally accredited bachelor’s model. Students who expect to transfer credits, apply to graduate programs with specific prerequisites, seek professional licensure, or present a credential to an employer that requires conventional regional-accreditation comparability should investigate those requirements before choosing the no-general-education option.

Blue Marble University is institutionally accredited by QAHE, an international independent quality-assurance organization. Institutional accreditation, however, is a different concept from CUFCE’s credential-equivalency review. The University’s new QAHE status should therefore not be read as eliminating the specific CUFCE limitation disclosed for this bachelor’s track.

Who Is This Option For?

The no-general-education bachelor’s program may be especially attractive to students who want a focused, inexpensive academic credential for fields in which professional licensure is not the objective; to working adults who want to complete an undergraduate degree efficiently; to home-schooled and nontraditional students; and to learners who would rather spend elective academic time developing AI fluency than repeating a broad general-education curriculum.

Typical admission is based on a high-school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Home-schooled and nontraditional students are welcome. Qualified high-school students may pursue dual enrollment, although the University requires completion of the high-school diploma before issuing the Blue Marble University degree. Students may apply at any time, with regular start dates of September 1, January 1, and May 1.
